Telehouse West, an independent secure DataCentre, is the future location for all our eco-friendly servers.This datacentre, currently due to open in 2010, will export waste heat to the surrounding community. This move allowed the building to gain planning permission under the London's strict new sustainability requirements. Electricity usage will be boosted by photovoltaic cells on the roof. The scheme will save up to 1,110 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually and provide up to 9MW of power for the local neighbourhood.
Waste heat is one of the largest sustainability issues for datacentres, and the heat export scheme is a first in the UK for this type of facility.
